2 for 2

2 for 2 exercising nightly instead of early morning. My mornings have yet to get better, but I think I’m getting there. I’m actually kind of liking it. My old routine at night was putting the boys to bed and cleaning up as much as possible, looking at Facebook and Instagram until my eyes closed all while fighting with Waylon to get back to his bed. Last night, everyone was forced into helping in the kitchen to get things cleaned up; Wyatt in charge of putting things away and taking dishes to the sink and Waylon in charge of sweeping up, while I loaded the dishwasher and cleaned up bigger messes. Boy, did Waylon ever have a mess to sweep up after feeding his little brother a chocolate cupcake. It was everywhere. My patience was low due to a number of factors, but mainly because I wanted to get it over with, get them in bed, and get to my workout. I yelled way too much. They actually did a pretty great job and the help was really appreciated. We all have to keep trying. Especially me.

The workout was perfect, P90x Core Synergetics. I would recommend this work out to every one of my runner friends. Perfect! Great core work and a really tough workout. I’ll rethink doing it on my basement floor until I clean it. You’re on the floor a lot doing a lot of rolling in a couple of different moves. I’m not as sore as I expected to be after taking around 3 weeks off. I was more sore the first time I did the Yoga workout than I was this week and this was my first time with the Core Synergetics, but it was tough and weights were included for the most part, so I really expected to feel it more today. Maybe that is coming later. We will see.

I took my shower last night, which is a big change for me. I’m a morning shower kind of girl. It helps wake me up and make my face not look so tired. I didn’t mess with my usual wake up time until I get used to the routine, but I actually fixed some eggs and got all the boys bags and coats sat out and got my lunch together. I ended up out the door at the normal LATE time even with eliminating the morning shower. Late again and no more sleep to account for. So frustrating!!! More tweaks tomorrow. Tell me, mommas, how do you do it and do it on time? It seems like no matter how much time I give myself in the morning I always end up out the door at the same late time every single day. I totally think it is a subconscious thing for me. Any tips are much appreciated!

I worried about showering at night then going straight to bed. I’m usually so tired by the time I get in bed that I’m asleep before I actually hit the pillow. I figured with a shower right before it would take a while to wind down and get to sleep. It didn’t seem like a problem though. I had time to ask for forgiveness around my yelling at the boys and I don’t remember anything after that until my alarm went off way too soon this morning.

Do you shower at night or in the mornings?

Any morning routine/ways to train your mind out of sabotaging yourself all the time tips?

  1. Well first of all, good job on being 2 for 2! I have done a few night workouts but mornings work best for me and our family. My husband has the night and I have the morning slot. I don't have a job to rush off to but I need to have my two older ones dressed and ready with their lunches, etc. I do as much as I can the night before (lunches packed, clothes laid out) and that seems to help. I have a lot of respect for those who can work, take care of their kids/ home AND still exercise consistently. It's A LOT to juggle! I'm sure it will get a little easier once you get in a routine. Great job on P90X! I just started doing the Ab Ripper X a few nights a week and those are the longest 15 minutes ever!

I'm seriously impressed with anyone who does the p90 workout, those things are inteeeeense!

I'm also a morning shower-er, it definitely helps snap me out of my sleep and wake up faster! ha!
