What Wyatt's up to

Wyatt has been quite funny and grown up lately.  A common question he will ask me and Waylon, "Can I be the dad to you?"  I guess he is trying to act like Dale.  He is the sweetest when he is acting like a daddy.  He REALLY takes care of his little brother and he gets things done that he is supposed to be getting done.

Yesterday he realized that Wall-E doesn't cry when he has to pick up!  Great lesson little buddy.  Maybe you should apply that to your picking up!

He also educated Wall-E on what a bra was for.  He thought the dirty bra Wall-E found was just like mine.  Um.... thanks!  I do wash mine from time to time and I surely don't have that color of pink.  Then he laughed about telling Wall-E those were boobs.

Last night he asked to take a shower all by himself and he did a great job.  Just needed help getting the soap on the thing (whatever it is called) and double checked to make sure he got all of the soap off.

This morning he told me to go ahead and go to the car to put Waylon in while he went to the bathroom, turned off the lights, and closed the doors.  I swear someone has replaced my kid.  He usually begs to be carried to the car no matter how much crap we have to carry.  He actually got the main door closed, but forgot to turn the light off and close the door to the garage, but I'm not complaining.  I still think he did an awesome job.

When I picked him up from the babysitter he grabbed the diaper bag, went to the Tahoe, opened the door, and got in his seat ALL BY HIMSELF!!!!  It usually takes a bit of effort to get him in the car so we can get out of the driveway before someone blocks us in.

Tonight he said something about a little girl at the babysitters.  I told him they had been pretty friendly lately and if he liked her.  He raised his eyebrows and said,  "YEAH!  She can wear any dress she wants to wear."  My dad took it as she would look good in a potato sack.  That's how fine she is.  I don't quite think he was meaning it that way, but it just gives me a glimpse into his future.  Good Lord, I'm nowhere near ready for that.

I don't think I have had to get onto him at all tonight for anything.  He has been great.  I think he is really stepping up while Dale is out of town.  I mean the kid has always been tuned into the more difficult times and steps up.  He's special like that.  I love this kid so much.  I can't believe he will be 4 in just a few short days.  He amazes me how smart he is.  How well he remembers things blows my mind.  The way he still tells both of us and now his brother how much he loves us and says it like he means it with every fiber of his being is beyond anything I ever thought he would do at such an age.  He is my dream come true.  Yes, sometimes he stresses me out and sometimes he gets the best of me, but my goodness he makes me feel love like I never thought I could.  I REALLY love you, Wy Wy!

  2. So glad things are going smoothly while hubby is away. Sounds to me like you are a good mom and he is emulating what he sees. And yes, he's growing up. Love the comment about the little girl, "She can wear any dress she wants." Too funny.
