For some reason I don’t think of Mother’s Day as a day to celebrate myself as a mom. I think of my mom, Dale’s mom, and my mom friends. I’m honestly surrounded by great moms.
My friends as moms… Wow! They are amazing, all of them. I do not have one friend that I have that little voice in the back of my head saying, I love her, but she’s a crappy mom!
They all amaze me. You can see the love for their kiddos in their eyes when they talk about them. They share stories on FB or talk about them when we get together. Even when the stories are about how many times they have to tell their kids to get their hands out of their pants or putting them in timeout in certain locations, you can still see how much they love them. They are pictures of what being a mom is all about to me. I’m proud to call them my friends and am overjoyed at the fact that they are successful moms and we get to share in the experience.
Our conversations are no longer consumed by who is hotter than whom or what craziness is going on at any given time. They are now consumed with bed times, breastfeeding, discipline strategies, and our newest fears. I never get sick of it. So to all of my friends that inspire me to be a better mom every single day… thank you and Happy Mother’s Day!
To my own mom, thanks for teaching me the ropes through the good, bad, and everything in between.
You inspire me!!! Your strength, honesty, patience and never-ending love for all your boys! Happy Mother's Day to you...even if you don't want to celebrate yourself-I will!
