If I go missing, blame the extinct dinosaurs

I'm starting a new workout plan.  Dale has brought me to the realization that I need to rest more.  He's probably right.  My fear is that if I'm not working hard every day that my motivation will slip and I will get worse.

Right now I'm on the verge of the hate overcoming the love.  You athletes out there know that there is a very serious love/hate relationship with what you do for training vs the benefits.

As I started my 5k last Saturday it scared me a little that I didn't have the excitement I had when I ran the second one.  The question of "Why am I doing this" was concerningly more powerful.  If I am constantly going, how in the world am I able to keep up at this pace?

I am now going to start implementing rest days.  I haven't figured out what to do on those rest days yet.  Either I will take it completely off, jog very lightly, lift, abs, ride the bike with Wyatt, or something.  Something to keep the motivation there but not completely exhaust me or my muscles.  Do you all have any suggestions?

I used to be a strong kicker.  I ran the anchor leg in many a relay race, but I've noticed lately I can't get my kick going as I would like.  I think this new routine will help.  I'm implementing track workouts again.  This is my second week of them.  I also used to be a 400 runner and ran it with ease and grace.  I was pretty fast.  But now?  UGH!  Where did my speed go?  I purposely didn't time them today because my 200's last week were awful!

So the track has been my best friend lately.  Above is a nice little tired voice video I shot this morning as I thought any minute a terradactyle was going to swoop down and carry me off to some god awful nest and feed me to its children.  I left Dale a note letting him know I hit the track, but how in the world would he find me in a terradactyle nest? Hopefully I will get over my fear of the thing, whatever it is.  If it is not sleepless roaming meth addicts looking for a kill it is extinct dinosaurs that keep my fears intact.

I know the love remains and this morning I was reminded of that.  Even before bed last night I was debating on whether I should get up at the same time and go forth with the workout or not since I was getting to bed kind of late.  I set the alarm anyway.  This morning when I got up my eyes opened and it felt like I just shut them.  I debated about getting up or getting one more hour of sleep.  I got up anyway.

I ran through every excuse in my head, I'm tired, it is kind of chilly, it is weird driving to the track to workout so early, it is scary, etc.

But as I got there and heard the soles of my shoes dig into the all weather track I felt a little bit of the love peek through.  Hearing birds and crickets, seeing the stars, and the moon, hearing the freight train coming, and the sprinklers going.  Hearing my breath and my stride.  Pushing myself from not wanting to be out there to turning the page of talking myself into picking my legs up and putting them down strong and determined. Visualizing what I wanted to do on the last 400 and how I wanted to feel coming off the curve.  My love came back, my roots rattled, and I felt happy for getting out there and getting the job done.

Portable North Pole

Recently I was told about this great service from the girl that cuts my hair.  I couldn't wait to try it out.  All you have to do is go online and create your child's profile and they put a personalized message from Santa out there.  This was so cool to me and it is totally free.  I was really excited about it.  Last night we let the boys listen to their own special Santa message.  Believe it or not, I think Waylon liked it the best even though Santa didn't know how to say Waylon's name.  I told you those two were back on good terms after this.

So for your totally cool viewing pleasure, here are the videos of them watching their special message.  Just google portable north pole to create your own.

Wyatt's video: (Waylon happened to throw a terrible two fit right before this trying to push the tree down and all, that's why Dale is giving him such a hard time.)

Waylon's video: (the other little guy you hear is Connor, my nephew.)

So next week is a crazy week at our house.  We are so excited to be seeing the Davids family and the Foster family.  And then my college girls and their families, then Dale's mom's side, and his dad's side and then my side.  Our house is going to be one wild and crazy place and I love it!  So, I don't know how much blogging I will be doing, but I will for sure catch everyone up on the flip side.  Then the No Name Baby's count down should start up soon.  I can't believe we are there already.  We do have 2 names that are strong possibilities, but Dale and I don't agree on which one is our 1st pick.  At least we have 2 we both really like.  Stay tuned.  Until then have an awesome and safe weekend finishing up your shopping and last minute Christmas preparation!

"Oh, Hello!"

Here is a little glimpse of the boys in action last night while I was cooking dinner.  It was another single mom night for me since Dale had his last jv football game.  Woot!  And they won, Woot! Woot! And we got left over bbq that one of the parents had catered, Woot! Woot! A Woot!  No cooking for me tonight!

We had a good time and got to watch DWTS, so you know, it was good!  Waylon was in a great mood and I don't even think he threw his regular "just got home" fit.  That was a blessing!

You can see the evidence here about Waylon's little jabber conversations.  I provoked it, but it is the same anyway.  Wyatt is just too funny.  He loves watching himself right now.  Yes, I pick my battles with the boys or I would be saying, "Don't", "Stop", "Do you want me to..." constantly.  So, yes, they are standing on the island and climbing as well and hitting the lights.  All things they aren't supposed to be doing.

Anyway, enjoy your glimpse into my real life!

Why I love the mornings on the weekends

I get to wake up to such sweet boys before their horns wake up and protrude from their skulls. Wyatt came to our room Sunday morning and said, "Oh my gosh, I have so much energy!" He hogged my pillow and I decided I better let the dog out. When I came back to bed he was sound asleep. So much for that energy!

Below is a video of Waylon being so cute. He is in such a great mood in the mornings and so cute. This Saturday morning, I got out of the shower and Dale headed out the door with Wyatt to play and get some things done outside. Waylon wasn't ready yet, so he stayed, but still followed them to the door. He came back into the bathroom looking like this...

He found jack pot on his way back to the bathroom. An Easter Egg filled with candy.

Gone in about 2 seconds

Yum

Really yum! Hope I can get that stuff out of his jammies!

Forgive me for the end. I thought I had turned the camera off, obviously I didn't and I don't know how to edit it, sorry! It was just too cute not to post. Love that little man, blue drool, snotty nose and all!
