These boots...
By themselves I can't stand the looks of them when they are lying in the floor. They are tattered and worn. They are clunky and smelly.
But they are filled with my life.
These boots are coveted amongst my boys. They search for them when they get home. They fight over who is going to wear them first.
These boots are magical boots.
They can get them to do things regular convincing can't. Going to the bathroom like a big boy. Shooting HUGE bears in the woods and dragging them home to show their family.
They create a certain feeling in the boys once they slip them on. One of confidence. One of feeling bigger than they are. A cowboy. A man taking care of his family. A big kid telling his mom goodbye as he waves and explains he's going to work. These boots make them strut around the house with the coolest look on their face. They can do anything in these boots.
These boots...
They are only going to fit so long. I only get to witness their magic for a short time.
They will protect the soles of my life until they're outgrown.
No matter the sight of them, no matter the smell, or the clunkiness, or the worn tattered look, I love these boots and everything that fills them.
